Hujjat al-Islam Ustad Agha H.I Syed Jawad Naqvi سید جواد نقوی استاد is an eminent Pakistani Twelver Shia Muslims cleric. He holds PhD's in Philosophy, Sociology and Fiqh. He has also studied and taught Islam in Iran for more than 30 years. His most prominent teacher was Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli.

Naqvi is significant for his unique style of preaching of Islam-e-Naab The pure Islam, stepping away from the traditional practice among Shia Muslims ulema of confronting Sunni Muslims beliefs and delivering dialogue-filled sermons derived from unreliable sources. He focuses more on implementing Islam in today's world, rather than living in the past. Naqvi is also the founder of the monthly magazine Masharab-e-Naab. His lectures and speeches make him unique from other Muslim Urdu scholars.

Jamia Urwat-ul-Wusqa

Naqvi is the founder and leader of the madressa Jamia Urwat-ul-Wusqa.This Madressa is now much popular not even in Lahore but in whole Pakistan. He is also the founder and leader of Jamia Jafferiya and Jamia Umm ul Kitab for women. He is also the founder and leader of Jamia Deen ul Qayim Virtual Islamic Seminary.

Publications

Naqvi has written many books on Quran, Karbala and Islam including Adaab-e-Fahm-e-Quran, Aqdar-e-Ashura and Hussain as Waris-e-Anbia. Although most of his works are in Urdu, some of his publications have been translated into English, such as The Candle of the Path of Allah, Defeated Velvet Revolution In Iran and The System of Wilayat

Friday Revival, احیائ جمعہ

In the March 2015, just after the inauguration of Jamia Masjid Allama Mufti Jafar, Friday prayer has been started and Hujjatul Islam Ustad Syed Jawad Naqvi deliver the Khutba e Jumma, Friday sermon.

Controversy

In 2013, Naqvi was banned by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif from lecturing at Masjid-e-Muhammadi in Lahore, over fears that his lectures would incite action against oppression. This occurred after Police deliberately prevented Naqvi's security from entering the mosque, sparking mass protests outside the mosque.
