Jamal Bokhari (born February 1961) is a Pakistan-born American physician and professor at the Yale School of Medicine, who has contributed to clinical research and education in the field of diagnostic radiology. He is the author of several major publications.

Early life and education
Bokhari (full name Syed Ahmad Jamal Bokhari) was born in Lahore, Pakistan to Brig. (Rtd) Syed Sajjad Bokhari and artist and writer Yasmin Bokhari. He completed his pre-medical studies at the Forman Christian College, Lahore in 1979 and earned an M.B.B.S. from the Army Medical College, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad in 1984, after which he served as a medical officer in the army. He then worked as a research assistant alongside hemotologist-oncologist, Azra Raza at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Career
Bokhari completed his residency and fellowship in diagnostic radiology at Yale University School of Medicine. Subsequently, he remained on the faculty of Yale University and is currently Professor of Radiology and Surgery (Trauma) and Chief of Emergency Radiology at Yale New Haven Hospital. Bokhari has been the Director of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Yale since 2008. Alongside his research and clinical practice, he has played an important role as a distinguished teacher and mentor to his residents and has been the recipient of many teaching awards.
In 2014, the Syed A J Bokhari award - a teaching award honouring clinical excellence, humanism and mentorship in medical education and practice - was instituted in his name by the Yale Radiology Residents and awarded to Dr. Smbat Amirbekian. In 2014, he was the joint recipient of the Joseph E. and Nancy O. Whitley Award for best publication, awarded by the Association of University Radiologists.
Other contributions
Bokhari has contributed extensively to the worldwide study and documentation of micro-histories on coins and paper currencies from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He is on the Panel of Experts and a life member of the International Bank Note Society as well as an active member of the The American Numismatic Society, The American Philatelic Society, and a life member of the New Haven Philatelic Society.
