Formation and Swell Daze EP (2011-2013)

Swell Daze formed in 2011 in Purcellville, Virginia, consisting of McCoy Douglasson (vocals), Addison Smith (guitar), Doug Schultz (bass), and Titus Barton (drums). They began to garner a fan base in mid-2012 after playing many gigs at local festivals, bars and restaurants throughout the Northern Virginia area. In March 2012, Swell Daze recorded an eponymous debut EP themselves at a friend's home studio. Shortly after the EP's release Mitch Weissman joined the band on bass guitar, replacing Doug Schultz who left to attend another college. After its release, Swell Daze continued to gain popularity, especially with their hit song, "Hooked," which catapulted their EP to #167 in the College Radio charts.

In addition, "Hooked" was licensed to Tony Hawk's RIDE Channel and several TV programs on MTV, Discovery Channel, VH1, E!, and NASCAR. Swell Daze was subsequently sponsored by RedBull Soundstage. In mid-2012, due to the increased and constant schedule of touring, bassist Doug Schultz announced his departure from the band. He was replaced by Mitch Weissman, a friend met through Titus's college roommate. Swell Daze continues to play live throughout Virginia and the East Coast, having played as far north as Pennsylvania and as far south as Virginia Beach, Virginia. In early 2013, "Hooked" was included on the new Discovery Channel series Saint Hoods. In September 2013, they won Empire's Mid-Atlantic Battle of the Bands, receiving prizes valued at $10,000, including 30 hours of professional studio time at BIAS Studios in Springfield, Virginia.

Simple Fix (2014)

After winning the Battle of the Bands, Swell Daze took to the studio to record their first LP, Simple Fix, which was released on July 1, 2014. The band hired multi-platinum record producer Jim Ebert and multi-platinum engineer Sean Russell to produce the album. The album was recorded at BIAS Studios in Springfield, Virginia and Cue Recording Studios in Falls Church, Virginia. The record was mastered by Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Vlado Meller.

Electrify Me (2015)

On February 27, 2015, Swell Daze won another regional battle of the bands at Jammin Java. Shortly after they hit the studio to record their forthcoming EP titled 'Electrify Me' which is due out August 14.
