There is a small community of people of Indian origin living in Sweden, most of whom are Maharashtrians, Punjabis, Bengalis, Gujaratis, and South Indians.

During the period of 2001 to 2010, of the total of 10,000 Indian students coming for higher studies in Sweden taking advantage of the tuition-free high-quality education system.

The Indian community is culturally very active. Different associations hold cultural functions and observe national days.
