Biography
Svetlana Sagaydak was born on May 3, 1968 in Dresden, East Germany.
In 1992, she graduated from the Faculty of Economics at M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and in 2000 received a diploma from the Faculty of Law at MSU. In 2007, Sagaydak was awarded a PhD in Economics.
Career
Sagaydak joined Sberbank in 2008 and has held the positions of Director of the Small Business Division, Vice President and Director of the Distressed Assets Division. In her four years with Sberbank's Distressed Assets Division, she helped recover bad debts worth more than USD 20 bn, reduce the NPL (90+ days) ratio from 9.2% to 3%, and decrease the total NPL volume to USD 6 bn.
In 2013, as Senior Vice President of Sberbank of Russia, Sagaydak has been charged with managing large corporates, SMEs, industrial military complex enterprises, and subfederal and municipal bodies.
Sagaydak has said she believes that today's Sberbank is a modern and advanced bank, crediting this success to the development and deployment of business IT platforms. The top position of the corporate internet bank mobile app, Sberbank Business Online, which has become a favourite at popular app stores for portable devices, confirms this view. Such apps help Sberbank's customers “register businesses, open accounts, obtain loans, make payments and get in touch with account managers without leaving their offices, from their cars or while staying on the beach.”
This innovative approach to developing the Bank in a similar way to Apple or Google has been made visible through introducing network services. Sagaydak noted: “together with tax authorities, we have created a new innovative product, the Business Tablet. Among other options, this product offers the customers the cash transactions functionality. This is an innovative, breakthrough business journey supported by the government.” This project was later presented at the Sochi International Investment Forum where Sagaydak also mentioned that the Bank paid much attention to social networks and had small New Year gifts in store for those who had customer service complaints.
Sagaydak describes the Bank's strategy as “being the best and always offering new financial and service solutions that make operating a small business an easier task.” She sees a key goal as bringing the Bank and its customers together to form partnerships and promote business mentorship relations. She also believes that the Bank-customer relationship should bring maximum benefits to the Bank's customers.
At the 2015 St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2015), Sagaydak stated that the financial and economic crisis and sanctions had no impact on the delivery of foreign contracts signed by Sberbank's customers or on timely performance of their transactions.
When speaking about the Bank's preliminary results for the first 11 months of 2015, Sagaydak gave a specific example, stating that since the beginning of 2015, Sberbank disbursed RUB 70 billion of seasonal fieldwork loans, a 200% increase year-on-year. What is more, Sberbank disbursed more than RUB 740 billion in SME segment for the first 11 months of 2015, which is the leading result in the Russian market.
To compare, Sberbank SME’s credit portfolio is 6 times bigger than its closest competitor VTB 24.
One of the best achievements was increasing of the clients service quality. Opening a bank account for entrepreneurs now takes no more than 2.5 minutes. There are more than 30 thousand such accounts opening each year in Sberbank.
On 29 February 2016 Sberbank Supervisory Board approved the candidature of Svetlana Sagaydak for her appointment to the position of Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Board of Sberbank. Svetlana will coordinate all the international business of the Sberbank group.
