Sustainable Singapore Gallery (SSG) is a gallery in the vicinity of Marina Barrage, located at the Marina Bay reservoir in Singapore. It showcases efforts towards environmental sustainability. The Marina Barrage is owned and managed by the Public Utilities Board (PUB), a statutory board of the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

Contents

American urban planner Alexandros Washburn said Singapore's urban design scale experiments reflect a "great combination of creativity, resources and unified action". Other galleries include the Singapore City Gallery and Land Transport Gallery.

Mission

SSG promotes environment awareness. Through the gallery, visitors are able to better understand the story behind the island's largest and most urbanised water catchment area that serves to create a freshwater reservoir to boost water supply, acts as a tidal barrier to prevent flooding and offer revenue for water-based recreation.

Galleries

The 6 galleries enable visitors to explore the unique aspects of Singapore's sustainable story.

The main highlight of this gallery is the 'organic tree' that is illuminated by a play of 3 different colours that symbolises uncertainty. A feature wall made up of NEWater bottles are displayed there.

Gallery 2 recounts the story behind the clean-up of the Singapore and Kallang Rivers.

This gallery describes the Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters programme - how waterways in Singapore are revamped and beautified.

An innovative barrage model is showcased in gallery 4, demonstrating the construction of the dam and how Marina Barrage works.

This gallery describes environmental planning and management of limited land area in different Singapore locations.

Gallery 6 shows people work with the private and public sectors on environmental sustainability.
