Sunera was founded as an IT Audit and Security firm by Peter Armstrong and Emmett Lange, former KPMG Partners. Initial services included IT controls testing, vulnerability assessments, Internal Audit, and Sarbanes-Oxley. In early 2010, Sunera acquired Windward Invocation, a PeopleSoft consulting company, based in Tampa. Later in 2010, Sunera acquired 50% of Advanced Financial Services, an internal audit company based in South Florida. Also in 2010, Sunera acquired the Dallas business AC Lordi and merged it with the existing Sunera Dallas office. In January 2014, Cyber Risk Management became the parent company of Sunera.
