History
Sun Communities, Inc., together with its affiliates and predecessors, has been in the business of acquiring, operating, and expanding manufactured housing communities since 1975.
In December 1993, the company went public as a REIT, offering 5.7 million common shares. At the time of the public offering, the company operated 31 manufactured housing communities with 9,036 sites located in 6 states. Continuing with its acquisition philosophy, Sun continued to acquire properties from both individual owners and companies.
