Personal life
Sumit was born on 17 March 1981 and brought up in Delhi. He did his graduation from Bhagat Singh College, Delhi and his postgraduation in journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. In real life Sumit is very close to his well played character "Rishi".
Career
Sumit made his career with the role of Dwarak in Kashi – Ab Na Rahe Tera Kagaz Kora on Imagine TV. He also played in 12/24 Karol Bagh as Raman on Zee TV, Surya The Super Cop as Investigating Officer Chirag on Sony TV and Mukti Bandhan on Colors TV as Jimmy & Chintoo Chautala in Big Magic's show Ajab Gajab Ghar Jamai. His indian daily soap opera "Hitler didi"(aired on Zee tv from 7 November 2011- 2 Aug 2013) became very popular among indian audience as well as this show was also dubbed in "Arabic" and aired on "Zee Alwan" channel in Dubai and Middle East countries like "Egypt,Tunisia,UAE," etc. This show was aired on Zee Alwan(from 18 December 2014) titled "Okhti hitler"(arabic version) which means "Sister Hitler" became very popular among Arabian audiences too. Arabic version of this show gave him(Sumit Vats) International fame and he is very popular among "girl audiences" of the Middle East world.
