Suba.Vee is short for Professor Suba.Veerapandian. He is the author of Karunchattai Tamilar (கருஞ்சட்டைத் தமிழர்) a bimonthly magazine. He has written around 18 books in the field of Tamil literature, Politics and History.

Political life
From a young age he was attracted to Dravidar Kazhagam principles like abolishment of caste, protest against oppression, love for mother tongue Tamil, freedom of women and rationalist thoughts. He was also instrumental in spreading these principles all over Tamil Nadu by his well prepared and honey like speech.
He is an adherent follower of Periyar E. V. Ramasamy, Baba Saheb Ambedkar and a supporter of Tamil Eelam.
He was arrested by Tamil Nadu Police under the POTA act and has spent more than a year in prison. His arrest was widely condemned in Tamil Nadu's political circle.
He has stayed away from electoral politics and has been focussing on spreading the Dravidian Ideology among global Tamils. He has travelled across the world delivering key note addresses among Tamil Diaspora in cities like London, Melbourne, Singapore, Kuala Lampur etc. He is a member of TESO (Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation) and has campaigned for Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the elections held in Tamil Nadu. His strong opposition to caste based politics and superstitions in society makes him a sought after speaker in Tamil News channels.
Education and work
Despite being a physics graduate, he joined Pachaiyappa's College in Chennai to do his masters in Tamil Literature due to his love for Tamil language. He passed out of Madras University with a gold medal in Tamil Literature in 1973. His classmates in Pachaiyappa's included Tamil poet Vairamuthu. After completing his education, he worked as a Tamil professor in a college in Chennai for 21 years. After that, he got voluntary retirement. He was instrumental in spreading the quote "Fallen due to Aryan-ism, Arisen due to Dravidian-ism and Victory due to Tamil-ism" ("ஆரியத்தால் வீழ்ந்தோம், திராவிடத்தால் எழுந்தோம், தமிழியத்தால் வெல்வோம்") and with this quote as his base he launched Dravidar Iyyaka Tamilar Peravai in 2007 and is serving as its president. It is an organisation which works for the welfare of the global Tamil people.
Early life
Suba.Vee was born in Karaikudi in 1952 in Sivagangai, Tamil Nadu to Karaikudi Subbiah an MLA and Visalakshi from where he gets his initial Suba.Vee. He is married to Vasantha. Currently he lives in Chennai-capital city of Tamil Nadu.
Suba.Vee's elder brother, S. P. Muthuraman, is an Indian film director who works in Tamil film industry.
