Styrian state election, 2005

The Styrian state election of 2005 was held in the Austrian state of Styria on 9 March 2005.

After being governed by ÖVP-led administrations for sixty years, the SPÖ managed to win the election. Franz Voves, Styrian SPÖ chairman, became prime minister. The election also saw the return to parliament of the Communist Party, after an absence of thirty-five years, and the departure of the Freedom Party.
