StreetGames is a charity that brings sport to disadvantaged young people in England, Wales and Scotland. All projects in the StreetGames network of organisations are locally funded and controlled. StreetGames is a response to the lack of sports provision in disadvantaged areas. The Sport England Active People Survey shows that young people in poverty participate in sport about half as much as those in prosperity, although there is demand.

Background
A successful football tournament was organised in April 2003 by the FA, the Government Office for the North West and the regional renewal programmes. The tournament’s objective was to run a sporting event for young people in renewal areas, giving youngsters the chance to take part. Following the tournament, the StreetGames charity was set up by half a dozen organizers of neighbourhood sports projects in 2005. StreetGames is registered as charity number 1113542 with the Charity Commission, and as company limited by guarantee number 5384487 with the Registrar of Companies. StreetGames was awarded Sport Lottery Funding for a three-year grant in 2006. Since then StreetGames projects have spread across England, Wales, and Scotland.
The original founders of the StreetGames charity are Jane Ashworth OBE, Sandy Craig, Kerry McDonald, Brian Dickens, Su Cumming, and John Dwan. Jane and Kerry work for the organization. Su and John are vice-presidents. Template:As of November 2016:

StreetGames is a national partner to Sport England. Sport England is a quango, and StreetGames has been funded by Sport England since founded in 2005 to grow sport in disadvantaged communities. Sport England funded the award winning Us Girls programme (2010-13) and the ground breaking 1000 Doorstep Sport Clubs programme (2013-17).
