Stephen C. Neal is the CEO and chairman of Cooley LLP.

Neal successfully argued the case before the Delaware Supreme Court in which the Supreme Court upheld General Motors’ buy-out of Ross Perot under the business judgment rule.

Neal argued and won one of the first cases upholding a so-called “flip-in” poison pill in Delaware Chancery Court and argued and won an early case upholding poison pill in the Northern District of Illinois.

In 2006 Stephen Neal was named by The National Law Journal as one of “The 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America”.

In September 2009, he was named in The Daily Journal’s Top 100 Lawyers in California list. Neal has also been named in the Northern California Super Lawyers list in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009.

On October 2, 2007, Steven C. Neal was elected to sit on the board of directors for Levi Strauss & Co.
