Training

Fournial trained under Solange Golovine, principal dancer and Maitre de Ballet at the Ballet «Marquis de Cuevas», historical French Ballet Company. He continued studying with Rosella Hightower at the Ecole superieure de danse de Cannes Rosella Hightower and then with Jean Babile and Serge Peretti. He also studied with other important teachers of the Paris Opera Ballet, such as Raymond Franchetti and Noella Pontois.

Dancing career

Fournial started his artistic career with the Ballet National de Marseille of Roland Petit in 1979, and two years later danced at the «Opera du Nord» in Lille. In 1982, he danced as a guest artist with the Tokyo Ballet. From 1984 until 1990 he danced with the ballet company of «Badisches Staatstheater» in Karlsruhe (Germany). From 1990 he guested with several important international theatres, including the « Stuttgart Ballet », the « Marijinsky » in St. Petersbourg, the « Teatro National di Sao Carlos » in Lisbon, the Scottish Ballet, the « Teatro Alla Scala » in Milan, the « Teatro San Carlo » in Naples, the « Ballet du Capitole » in Toulouse, the « Teatro la Fenice » in Venice, and the « Arena di Verona ». In 1995 he was awarded the « Positano Prize Leonid Massine », and the « Festival Split Prize » in Croatia in 1997. During his career as a dancer, he performed the role of Albrecht in « Giselle », Romeo in « Romeo and Juliet », Basilio in « Don Quichotte », Prince Siegfried in « Swan Lake », and Don Jose in « Carmen ». He danced with some of the most important international stars : Claude de Vulpian, Carole Arbo, Irena Pasaric, Margaret Illman, Carla Fracci, Sofiane Sylve. And he worked with great choreographers including Roland Petit, Wayne Eagling, Pierre Lacotte, Robert North, Maurice Bejart, Frederic Ashton, Hans Van Manen, Germinal Casado, Derek Deane, Joseph Lazzini e Tetley, Luciano Cannito.

Administrative career

After his dance career, he became the artistic co-ordinator for « Monchengladbach », and later on he became tour manager of the Het National Ballet of Amsterdam. Stephane Fournial founded “the 6-prime agency”, with the ambitious objective of representing and promoting young talented artists and emerging companies.
