The State Council Information Office (SCIO; Chinese: 国务院新闻办公室; pinyin: Guówùyuàn Xīnwén Bàngōngshì; literally: "State Council News Office") is an administrative office under the State Council, the chief administrative body of the People's Republic of China. It is the chief information office of the Chinese government.

Internet Affairs Bureau

The Internet Affairs Bureau deals with Internet censorship in the People's Republic of China and represses "disruptive" (anti-Chinese government) activity on the web in mainland China.

State Internet Information Office

In May, 2011 the State Council Information Office announced transfer of its offices which regulated the internet to a new subordinate agency, the State Internet Information Office which would be responsible for regulating the internet in the People's Republic of China. The relationship of the new agency to other agencies in the PRC which regulate the internet was unclear from the announcement.
