History

The St.Peter's College branch school was the initiative of Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis, the auxiliary Bishop of Colombo. Under the patronage of Rev. Dr. Nicolas Marcus Fernando, theArchbishop of Colombo, St.Peter's College, Gampaha was inaugurated on 2 February 1993, in the Holy Cross Church Premises, known as "Gal Palliya".

At its inception there were only two teachers, Mrs. Deepika Peiris and Mrs. Sarojini Perera. The first principal of the college, was Thilak Rodrigo and there were only 46 children enrolled. Rev. Fr. Joe Wickramasinghe was the Rector. On 25 October 2003 the stage was set to open the St. Peter's College, Udugampola Branch with the deep commitment and dedication of the Rector Rev. Fr. Felician Ranjith Perera, Rev. Fr. Siri Cooray, the Priest in Charge and Principal, Mathew Bernad Fernando. The college was declared open by Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis.

In 2012, his Eminence Rev. Dr. Malcom Cardinal Ranjith gave direction to the school management to shift the Primary School in Gampaha to Udugampola. The Foundation Stone was laid for a four storied building in Udugampola in order to accommodate the primary students. This new classroom building was declared open by His Eminence on 23 April 2013.
