Srirampore subdivision

Srirampore subdivision is a subdivision of the Hooghly district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of six municipalities (Serampore, Uttarpara Kotrung, Konnagar, Rishra, Baidyabati and Dankuni) and four community development blocks: Chanditalal–I, Chanditala–II, Jangipara and Sreerampur Uttarpara. The four blocks contain 37 gram panchayats and 24 census towns. The subdivision has its headquarters in Serampore.

Area

Apart from the six municipalities of Serampore, Uttarpara Kotrung, Konnagar, Rishra, Baidyabati and Dankuni, the subdivision contains 24 census town and rural areas of 37 gram panchayats under four community development blocks: Chanditala–I, Chanditala–II, Jangipara and Sreerampur Uttarpara. The 18 census towns are: Purba Tajpur, Kharsarai, Begampur, Chikrand, Pairagachha, Monoharpur, Barijhati, Garalgachha, Krishnapur, Mrigala, Raghunathpur, Dakshin Rajyadharpur, Bamunari, Rishra, Nabagram Colony , Kanaipur, Nababpur , Kumirmora , Masat , Gangadharpur , Jangalpara , Manirampur , Bhagabatipur , Ramanathpur , Dudhkalmi.

Chanditala–I block

Rural area under Chanditala–I block consists of nine gram panchayats, viz. Ainya, Haripur, Moshat, Bhagabatipur, Krishnarampur, Nababpur, Gangadharpur, Kumirmore and Shiyakhala. Urban area under this block consists of nine census towns: :Nababpur, Kumirmora, Masat, Gangadharpur, Jangalpara, Manirampur, Bhagabatipur, Ramanathpur, Dudhkalmi Chanditala police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Masat.

Chanditala–II block

Rural area under Chanditala–II block consists of 11 gram panchayats, viz. Baksa, Chanditala, Janai, Mrigala, Barijhati, Kapasaria, Naiti, Begumpur, Garalgachha, Monaharpur and Panchghora. Urban area under this block consists of ten census towns: Purba Tajpur, Kharsarai, Begampur, Chikrand, Pairagachha, Monoharpur, Barijhati, Garalgachha, Krishnapur and Mrigala. Chanditala and Dankuni police stations serve this block. Headquarters of this block is in Chanditala.

Jangipara block

Rural area under Jangipara block consists of ten gram panchayats, viz. Antpur, Jangipara, Radhanagar, Rasidpur, Dilakash, Kotalpur, Rajbalhat–I, Furfura, Mundalika and Rajbalhat–II. There is no urban area under this block. Jangipara police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is in Jangipara.

Sreerampur Uttarpara block

Rural area under Sreerampur Uttarpara block consists of six gram panchayats, viz. Kanaipur, Payarapur, Rajyadharpur, Nabagram, Raghunathpur and Rishra. Urban area under this block consists of six census towns: Raghunathpur, Dakshin Rajyadharpur, Bamunari, Rishra, Nabagram Colony and Kanaipur. Sreerampur, Uttarpara and Dankuni police stations serve this block. Headquarters of this block is in Sreerampur.

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in West Bengal:

  • The area under the municipalities of Uttarpara Kotrung and Konnagar along with the gram panchayats of Nabagram, Kanaipur and Raghunathpur under the Sreerampur Uttarpara block will form the Uttarpara assembly constituency of West Bengal.
  • Wards numbered 3–19 and 25 of the Sreerampur municipality, the area under the Rishra municipality and the gram panchayats of Rajyadharpur and Rishra under the Sreerampur Uttarpara block together will form the Sreerampur assembly constituency.
  • Wards numbered 1, 2, 20–24 of the Sreerampur municipality, the municipal area in Baidyabati, and the Payarapur gram panchayat of the Sreerampur Uttarpara block will be part of the Champdani assembly constituency.
  • The gram panchayats of Begumpur, Kapasaria and Panchghora under the Chanditala–II block will be part of the area defining the Singur assembly constituency.
  • The other nine gram panchayats under the Chanditala–II block will form the Chanditala assembly constituency along with five gram panchayats under the Chanditala–I block, viz. Bhagabatipur, Gangadharpur, Krishnarampur, Kumirmore and Nababpur.
  • The other four gram panchayats under the Chanditala–I block, viz. Ainya, Haripur, Masat and Shiyakhala, and the area under the Jangipara block will together form the Jangipara assembly constituency.
  • The constituencies of Uttarpara, Sreerampur, Champdani, Chanditala and Jangipara will be assembly segments of the Sreerampur (Lok Sabha constituency).
  • The Singur constituency will be an assembly segment of the Hooghly (Lok Sabha constituency).
