Splatterpink is an Italian avant-garde band founded in 1990 by lead singer and bass player Diego D'Agata, known as well for being part of Jazzcore duo Testadeporcu. Its extremely original and complex music, surreal and cynical lyrics, has been ahead of most of its Italian contemporaries and its quality was noted abroad, notably by John Peel, who often broadcast them during his shows for BBC.

Splatterpink was formed in 1990 by Diego D'Agata (bass guitar and lead singer), Metello Orsini (guitar) and Alistair Brison (drums). The trio expressed a raw, aggressive music that was recorded in their first demo "One", but there had to be a lot of changes in the lineup before the band reached its definitive sound: after Brison's return to his native Scotland, a succession of drummers took place with Alberto Melega temporarily taking the job. At the same time on guitar Alessandro Cavazza (Orange) takes Orsini's place for a short time, succeeded by Federico Bernardi. The entrance of baritone player Alessandro Meroli drives the band towards an increased experimental approach, which requires a last change: Leonardo Saracino substitutes Melega to complete the lineup. Finally the band is ready to record their first album, "Industrie Jazzcore", in 1995. The same year Splatterpink wins the first prize of national competition "Omaggio a Demetrio Stratos". In 1997, after intensive touring for about three years, they record "Nutrimi" for established Italian label Underground Records, receiving very positive critics. These years the band was playing dozen of gigs all around Italy, widely renowned as "jazzcore italian pioneers". They received a very nice letter from John Peel and their first albums were on BBC Peel's playlists. The same year they're called to perform at the Biennale of Young Artists in Turin and their touring routine starts including openings for big acts, such as Ozric Tentacles, No Means No, P.J.Harvey and Asian Dub Foundation. In 1999, Christian Rovatti takes on the duties on drums, but the collaboration with the band is not successful: feeling that Rovatti's interest in the project is very limited, the other members decide to use a drum machine in a number of occasions, including an important event in Mostar (Bosnia), where Splatterpink was representing Italian Underground scene. In 2001 "#3", the third album, is released but its reception both the press and by the public is half-hearted. Gradually the live acts start diminishing and by 2003 the group is disbanded. In 2012 the four musicians decide to get back together, pushed by a strong fans base reputation and to explore new boundaries with the latest formation which include the great drummer Ivano Zanotti. They released an EP on 2014, April and the new album work "Mongoflashmob"was released for Locomotiv Records on December 1, 2014.
