About Gamzigrad Spa

Gamzigrad Spa is located in eastern Serbia, 220 km south-east of Belgrade and 11 km west of Zajecar. It lies at 160 m above sea level in the meandering Crni Timok valley, at the main road Zajecar - Paracin, with good traffic connections in all directions.

Gamzigrad Spa is under the complex influences of both continental climate and micro-climate. It is surrounded by wooded hills and is a very pleasant and quiet place for treatment, rest, recreation, sport and fishing, with always fresh and clean air, unspoiled nature, full of greenery and flowers, landscaped park and away from the urban environments. Nature has given it several sources of thermal waters, which belong to the alkaline - hyperthermia or alkothermal group. In 1920 the construction and organization of bathrooms started. In 1978 a modern special hospital for rehabilitation "Gamzigrad" was constructed and began to operate with the natural springs of thermal mineral water whose temperature is 42 °C with a depth of 303 m.

Not far from Specialized Hospital is the archaeological site of an ancient Roman imperial palace Felix Romuliana which is on the UNESCO list of World Heritage

About Special Hospital

Special Hospital specializes in the rehabilitation of peripheral vascular disease (arterial organic disorders of the blood vessels, functional disorders of the arteries, diseases of the peripheral venous blood vessel disease of the lymphatic system) and vibration disease. It also performs general rehabilitation (disease of the connective tissue, joint forms of rheumatism, extra-articular forms of rheumatism, orthopedic disorders and post-traumatic conditions, abnormalities in childhood, neurological disorders, and gynecological disorders). The special hospital has two indoor swimming pools with mineral water (one for adults and one for children), which are surrounded by wall mosaics, impressive in boththeir artistic expression and its size (author prof. Srbinović). Thermal water is used in mineral and galvanic baths, local baths (four-celled baths, Hauf baths, alternating baths), underwater massage and gynecology spraying. Special hospital applies the most advanced electrotherapy devices (galvanic, diadynamic, interfent, exponential and high-frequency, microwave and shortwave diatermija, ultrasound, etc.).. Vascular and apply the principle of pressure changes "Vasculator" and "Vacusac." Phototherapy is performed ultraviolet and infrared lamps. Acupuncture therapy and occupational therapy are carried out in modern and well equipped rooms. Thermal therapy is represented by paraffin treatment. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is performed in hyperbaric chamber. In particular, the hospital specialize in diagnostics and treatment of the peripheral bloodstream, heart, lung, and peripheral nerves and muscles.

Vacuum therapy

Vacuum - massage is done using vacusac and vasculator. Vasculator operates by alternately increase and decrease pressure in the cylinders around the patient’s limbs. In this way, blood vessels are massaged and elasticity of their walls is improved.

Hydrotherapy

In the hospital there are two indoor pools with sulfide thermal water (bigger for adults and small for children), which are surrounded by wall mosaics and impress with their artistic expression and its size (the work of academician prof. Srbinović).
