Spankwire was initially founded on December 23, 2005 and took form as a user-submitted web forum for adult content by the owners of SpikedHumor. In 2006, based on the success and growth of their adult video collection, the entire adult section of SpikedHumor was ported over to the Spankwire domain with a new focus on providing adult video content. Some years later, in 2012, Spankwire was officially acquired by MindGeek (then Manwin) and became a part of the extensive Pornhub Network as a result.
