Southern Vietnam (Vietnamese: Miền Nam) is one of the three regions within Vietnam (the other two regions are Northern Vietnam and Central Vietnam).

The largest city in the South is Ho Chi Minh City, the nation's largest city, other major cities include Cần Thơ, Biên Hòa.

Administration

Southern Vietnam includes the following subregions:

  • Southeast (Đông Nam) - 6 provinces: Bình Phước, Tây Ninh, Bình Dương, Đồng Nai, Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon)
  • Mekong Delta (Đồng Bằng Sông Mê Kông) - 13 provinces: Long An, Đồng Tháp, Tiền Giang, An Giang, Bến Tre, Vĩnh Long, Trà Vinh, Hậu Giang, Kiên Giang, Sóc Trăng, Bạc Liêu, Cà Mau and Cần Thơ
