South West Acute Hospital is a local teaching hospital located in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. It opened at on 21 June 2012 following the closure of the Erne Hospital. The new hospital, situated north of Enniskillen was opened by Queen Elizabeth II.

Contents

The hospital currently houses an Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit, out-patients department and a surgery suite. Attached to the hospital is on-site accommodation for medical, nursing and allied staff.

It is part of the Western Health and Social Care Trust, which became operational on 1 April 2007 following the amalgamation of three separate Trusts: Altnagelvin, Foyle and Sperrin Lakeland Trusts and Westcare Business Services.

The hospital is a university teaching hospital for both Queen's University Belfast and the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland.

The hospital is unique in that it is the first hospital in Northern Ireland with single side rooms.
