The name Lineville refers to the fact the town site lies near the Missouri—Iowa state line. The village is located directly south of its twin city of Lineville, Iowa.
Geography
South Lineville is located at 40°34′43″N 93°31′29″W (40.578582, -93.524694).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.06 square miles (0.16 km2), all of it land.
2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 28 people, 13 households, and 6 families residing in the village. The population density was 466.7 inhabitants per square mile (180.2/km2). There were 16 housing units at an average density of 266.7 per square mile (103.0/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 100.0% White.
There were 13 households of which 15.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, and 53.8% were non-families. 38.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.15 and the average family size was 3.17.
