Somesh Mathur

Early and personal life

Mathur was born on 19 October 1964, in 'Mathur' family to his Gurus, Smt. Sudha Mathur and Pandit. Sarvesh Chandra Mathur in Bandra West, Mumbai, India.

A scholar at heart, Somesh combines the discipline of a classical singer with the thorough professionalism of M.B.A. post graduate.

He started Learning Indian (North Indian) Classical Music since the age of 3 years and had his first ever performance at the age of 4 years a " Chhota Khayal " in " Raag Durga "... Then took to "Rock and Roll" at the age of 5 years, thanks to the influence of his sister and cousins. He was a Drummer in school and a Bass player in college. Somesh Mathur is a Bachelor.

Career

Somesh Mathur is respectfully addressed to, as "Panditji" {A Guru / A Mastero}. He is a Guru of Indian Classical Music & Voice Culture {having developed an extremely fast & effective regime to train Vocalists, involving not just Singing Techniques, but also Yoga, Praanayaam {Breathing Techniques} and Meditation}. He is a crusader in the new generation, for Indian, Bollywood & World Music and Indian / Urdu Poetry, Dohas, Shlokas and Hymns.

The Artiste has so far released 12 Albums, and 16 Music Videos; 'Ghalib', 'Jai Ganesha', 'Shiva Shlokas', & 'Radhai Ram Radhai Shyam'. He has composed over 200 songs belonging of a wide range of Genres, and performed over 1600 concerts worldwide. The Artiste also received the MTV Video Music Award (2005–2006) for his Album, with Asha Bhosle, Asha - A Brand New Album, for the song, "AAJ JAANE KI ZID NA KARO" Apart from album recordings, Somesh Mathur has also recorded, performed and produced the title music for several T.V. Commercials and T.V Serials.

A prominent milestone in Somesh’s career was when he recorded for and performed the song, "WAJAH MUSKURANE KI" (A REASON TO SMILE) at the Grand Finale of the Channel [V] Awards - 1997, sharing the stage with Jon Bon Jovi; Sting; Spice Girls; No Doubt; Diff Leopard; Etc., from the historic album / song / video, A REASON TO SMILE {Wajah Muskurane Ki} MAGNASOUND; 1997}, as part of the celebrations for India’s 50th year of Independence. The album and the music video were much celebrated and critically acclaimed, besides being a huge commercial success.

The Artiste has featured as a Guest on most prominent shows on TV, in India and Abroad, including making PANEER PASANDA with Sanjeev Kapoor, on the FOOD FOOD Channel.

The Maestro is

A Singer - Composer - Music Producer M.B.A. (Marketing & Finance) & a Sangeet Vishaarad (A Graduate) in Hindustani Classical (Vocal) and a pioneer in INDIAN CLASSICAL - JAZZ - BLUES - LOUNGE - ROCK - R & B - WORLD MUSIC, Genre... The Artiste also dreams of bringing millions of Gifted Folk Artistes, living in abject poverty, in deep interiors of India, into the mainstream, so that they may be able to make a livelihood from their Art, and lead a life of dignity and fulfilment

In the near future, the Artiste hopes to release the "Works" of his spiritual Guru, Sri. K. B. Mann, which will have an indelible and positive change on the mind set of the Human Race, for its self-preservation. Somesh Mathur considers Sri. K. B. Mann, to be nothing short of a Messiah...
