Socrata is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, USA with offices in Washington, D.C. and London, U.K. It received an initial A round of venture capital funding of USD 6.5 million from Morgenthaler Ventures and Frazier Technology Ventures in February 2008. The company received an $18 million series B funding round from OpenView Venture Partners, Morgenthaler Ventures, and Frazier Technology Partners, and In-Q-Tel on June 26, 2013, as well as a C Round of funding in late 2014.
Socrata launched at the DEMO 2008 conference and was previously known as Blist, an online software as a service database provider, before its Socrata name change on June 2, 2009.
