The Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) is an academic society for personality and social psychologists focused on promoting scientific research that explores how people think, behave and interact. It is the largest organization of social psychologists and personality psychologists in the world. SPSP was founded in 1974 and it manages the activities of Division 8 of the American Psychological Association
Produce and disseminate knowledge to the profession and the public for the public good through personality and social psychological science;Promote the careers of students and professionals in the areas of personality and social psychology; andRecognize and promote achievement in personality and social psychology.Each year, SPSP hosts a convention that attracts thousands of attendees (www.spspconvention.org). Attendees include students and new and seasoned psychologists. At the convention symposia, research is shared and members are able to engage in professional development.
