Skyview Community School first opened its doors on September 3, 1996. Skyview is realistically two schools in one having both K-5 elementary and a middle school students in grades 6-8. Travis Barringer is the principal of the elementary school and Joe Slavin is principal for the middle school. Skyview was designed with the cooperation and ideas of input from educators, parents, and community members who envisioned all ages working and learning together.

Skyview Elementary School

The elementary school serves more than 600 students from the communities of Oakdale, Woodbury, and Lake Elmo in Minnesota. The building is divided into houses where two grade levels share a common area for group work and special assignments. The expectations of the elementary school are 1. Be respectful 2. Be responsible 3. Be safe. Skyview Elementary's focus is recognizing and teaching positive behavior. The school has an after school "daycare" for children called Adventure Connection where they can go if parents are stuck at work and need somewhere for the kids to go.

Skyview Middle School

Skyview Middle School is one of the three public middle schools in North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale School District 622. About 900 students come to the middle school from Eagle Point, Oakdale and Skyview Elementaries. When students finish eighth grade, they most likely will attend Tartan High School in Oakdale. Class days consist of six class periods. There are a variety of after school activities for students to be involved in.

Sports

Skyview Middle School has many sports in which students grades 6-8 can participate in. They include: football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track & field, tennis, and wrestling. Like most school sports, students need to pay a fee before the season starts, which varies in price for each sport. Practices or games are not held on Wednesday's but, practices and games do take place Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30-4:30. Before a student can sign up for a sport they will need to have a physical on file at the school. Uniforms will be provided for all team student team members but no additional clothes will be provided for practices; they will need to supply their own.
