History

Skooli was founded in 2014 by the team behind Learnkit and Teach Away. With over ten years of experience in teacher recruitment and e-learning development, Skooli’s co-founders (Kevin, Rene, and David Frey) originally conceived Skooli as an online tutoring marketplace. In September 2015, following beta, the first official version of skooli.com was launched as a subscription-based online tutoring service. The Skooli Online Tutoring app launched in April 2016 for iOS and Android.

Services

Students and parents can visit Skooli to book instant sessions with available tutors or to book sessions for future dates. Skooli users select their own tutors and search based on subject and grade level. Skooli lists 1,700+ subjects and tutors for elementary, middle school, high school, university, master’s, and PhD students.

Verified Skooli tutors have had their backgrounds and experience vetted; these tutors are denoted with a purple Skooli badge on their profile. More than 75% of Skooli tutors are licensed teachers in either the United States or Canada; these tutors are denoted with a golden apple on their profile. Tutors profiles display ratings and reviews to aid users with selection. Tutors who receive poor reviews may be removed from Skooli.

The Skooli Online Classroom uses video communication, text chat, an interactive whiteboard, file sharing, session recordings, and a Google Drive integration. Skooli is mobile and desktop friendly and is accessible from computers, tablets, and mobile phones.
