Skooba Design is an American company specializing in the design, development and manufacturing of carrying cases and accessories.

The company's products include laptop, iPad/tablet, and photo/video bags, as well as laptop backpacks, laptop-compatible luggage, and hybrid laptop/travel duffels along with skins for laptops and tablets and protection, and tech organization products, such as cable organizers, protective wraps, and shoulder straps. It offers its products primarily through online retailers in the United States and internationally, along with some brick and mortar outlets.

Skooba Design also provides custom bag design, manufacturing, branding and other OEM services to clients ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations including Oracle, Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Microsoft, Ford, Lexar Media and General Electric, as well as the U.S. Postal Service.

History

Michael Hess founded the company in Rochester, New York in 2000 as a subsidiary of Three Point Ventures, LLC. It was founded under the name RoadWired, and changed its name to Skooba Design in August 2007. Hess authors the “Business With Class” column on CBS News MoneyWatch, and speaks to companies, universities and other groups on customer service and other business and career topics.

The company holds multiple patents, patents-pending, and international trademarks. Skooba is a past winner of a Consumer's Digest Best Buy Award, as well as the rare “Elite” designation by independent customer service testing firm Stella Service. It was also named to the Internet Retailer worldwide “Hot 100” website list in 2013.

The company has been featured in media including USA Today, Boing Boing, Gizmodo, CBS News, and the Los Angeles Times.
