Sinseong-Ri Reed field is wide reed field which is located on the lower Geum-River. its width is 0.12mile, length is 1mile and size of land is 20ha. you can view the spacious read field if you foot on the road above the bank.

History

this area have been called Jinpo for a long time ago. this area is famous because of Jinpo naval battle,which become known to the first naval battle at the age of Goryeo Dynasty which used gunpowder first and clear Japan navy. because this area is located on the lower Geum-River, sediments are piled up easily and there is an anxiety about flooding. so people who lived in this area did not farming so spacious reed field was formed.

Trait

Sinseong-Ri Reed field is known as one of big 4 reed fields of South Korea and also was selected one of the big 7 reed fields of South Korea by Korea Tourism Organization. many educational institutes uses this area for study and a lot of photographers visit to take pictures every year. this area is well known for filming location of the movie Joint Security Area. to prevent damaging the reed field, reed field park that occupies 3% of the whole scale of the reed field is opened to people and the rest is preserved. there are log boards that lyric poetries of poet Kim So-wol, Park Mok-wol are written in the reed field park. in 1990, Geum river-mouth weir was built and a freshwater lake was formed in the periphery. so migratory birds like a kind of ducks, swans, wild gooses and seagulls visit this area every year. the number of them is over 100 thousands. especially spectacle reaches the peak at December and January. in the nearby, there are Wol-Myung Park, Chunjangdae Beach, Hansan ramie cloth center.
