History
The term Sinister Violence means Diabolical Bloodshed. Sinister Violence was formed in the later half of 2008 with Binay on vocals, ex- Sinful Oath guitarist Karan on guitars, Amardeep on drums and Sawyum on bass. The band performed a few local gigs and college fests. However, Binay parted ways and was replaced by Gyaltzen who later came to be known as "Insane Lucifer" onstage. The band spent some time at Angels Recording Studio in Darjeeling and recorded their demos "Suicidal Tendency" and "Werewolf". Both the songs were well appreciated by the local metal scene and the band slowly but steadily grew in popularity. The year 2009 came to an end with Sawyum quitting the band and later followed by Amardeep. The vacant positions were quickly filled up by Wangden taking on bass and Anuj on drums. The band also recruited a keyboardist to make their sound a bit more symphonic and Anil happily filled the slot.
Demos
The very first demos to be recorded by Sinister Violence was Suicidal Tendency and later Werewolf. The lyrics basically deals with mystical creatures, the feeling of death and slightly tilts towards a more gothic writing. Both the songs were recorded at Angels Recording Studio in Darjeeling during the chilling winter of 2009.The year 2011 marked the return of Sinister Violence with 3 brutal compositions- Lordess ov Destruction, Kingdom Ov Blood and Fire and Sacrificial Goat which were very much appreciated by the metal community. Werewolf was re-recorded later with an essence of symphonic metal.
Gigs & Battle of the Bands
2010 turned up to be a good year for Sinister Violence as they participated in various major gigs, some of them being Channel V Launchpad in Goa and Pubrock Fest Zonal Finals at Someplace Else in Kolkata. The band won major beat contests- Great Himalayan Rock in Darjeeling and North Eastern Rockers in Sikkim.
Musical Style and Influences
The band describes their music as Blackened Gore Metal and have been much inspired by bands like Dimmu Borgir, Dying Fetus, Marduk, Last Days Of Humanity, Graveworm, My Dying Bride etc. The lyrics basically revolves under anti religious agendas, the fear of death, necromancy and mystical demons. The guitars are mainly detuned making the sound more heavy, blast drum beats and the addition of a keyboard has given a dramatic feeling of doom/ symphonic metal. However, the vocal variations are a bit unpredictable which ranges from guttural growls, grunts, whispers and even pig squeals.
