The Sinhgad Environmental Conservation Organisation (SECO) is a student group operating in the campus of Sinhgad College of Engineering who provide a platform for carrying out activities in the field of environment and energy conservation. SECO seeks to create awareness of environmental issues, the delicate balance required to be maintained between development and conservation and the necessary skill sets to carry out the related activities.

Activities

SECO provides opportunities for many undergraduate and graduate students of Sinhgad Institutes to bring a positive change in the environment around them, by participating in various activities organised by the club.

A list of the activities undertaken by the organisation includes:

  • Energy/Fuel Audits
  • Paper Bag Campaign
  • Plantation Drives
  • Seminars/Workshops on climate change
  • Treks/Nature Trails
  • Collaborations

In order to fulfil these objectives, SECO has partnered with many NGO’s and organisations to provide students with an opportunity to become involved with community and industry based projects. Students are also encouraged towards university level research in the fields of alternative energy and climate change mitigation. In addition to the Sinhgad Institutes, SECO has partnered with the Green Hills Group, Pune, and corporate organisations BSNL, WWF, United Nations Environment Programme and the British Council.
