Profiles

Simply Hired is an employment website and mobile application and an online recruitment advertising network. The company aggregates job listings from thousands of sites across the Web including job boards, newspaper and classified listings, associations, social networks, content sites and company career sites. It then distributes those jobs on its website, mobile app, as well as social network, blog, and other website partners. Job seekers search job listings on Simply Hired by keyword and location to find jobs of interest. Employers can gain premium placement in the listings by advertising in a pay-per-click (PPC) model. Simply Hired currently operates job search engines in 24 countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

History

Simply Hired was founded in 2003 by Gautam Godhwani, Anil Godhwani and Peter Weck with an initial investment of $1.2M. The beta site launch occurred on March 16, 2005 and later that year it raised a Series B round of $3M from Guy Kawasaki, Dave McClure, Ron Conway, Garage Technology Ventures, and others. In April 2006, the company received US$13.5 million in series C funding from News Corp.'s Fox Interactive Media division and Foundation Capital. The company partnered with MySpace Careers in June 2006 to power the website. Simply Hired partnered with The Washington Post in March 2009 to provide job listings on the newspaper's website. The company raised another Series D round of $4.6 million in August 2009 from IDG Ventures and Foundation Capital. In May 2014, a $12M Series E round was raised from City National Bank, IDG Ventures, and Foundation Capital. The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. James Beriker has been President & CEO since November 2012.

On May 26, 2016 all employees received 30 day notice to the ceasing of operations worldwide. In a letter, Simply Hired executives stated all job board hosting and posting activities would cease on or around June 26, 2016. Customers were alerted by email of the closing of Simply Hired on May 27, 2016. On July 1, 2016, Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., owner of Simply Hired competitor Indeed.com, announced that it has acquired the assets of Simply Hired, effective that day. The Simply Hired page would continue to operate as a job search destination and become a publishing partner of Indeed.
