Simon Arkell pole vault 580 - news story
Simon Graham Arkell (born 1 July 1966) is an Olympic pole vaulter from Australia, who competed in two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1992. During his career he was Commonwealth Champion, NCAA All-American (5 times), WAC Conference Champion (7 times) and broke 9 Australian and 4 Commonwealth records. He was also Australian (3) and British (2) Champion, was 1993 Australian Athlete of the Year and is in the Athletics Hall of Fame for the State of South Australia.

Arkell is a high technology executive for early stage and middle market software and IT companies. In 1998 he co-founded Versifi Technologies in Newport Beach, California. Versifi created the first 100% java web content management platform and went on to sell to Reef Technologies, SA in Belgium in 2000. Arkell then became a principal with Gramercy Venture Advisors, a boutique, software-focused investment banking firm in San Francisco, with a focus on venture capital and mergers and acquisitions. Arkell was the founding CEO of Predixion Software, Inc. from 2009 - 2016 at which point Predixion was acquired by Greenwave Systems, Inc. in Irvine, California.
