Simio Simulation and Scheduling Software was developed in 2006, by Simio LLC, a private company headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States.

History

Simio LLC was founded by Dr. C. Dennis Pegden, CEO. Pegden has over 30 years of experience in simulation and scheduling. He led in the development of SLAM (marketed by Pritsker and Associates) and then founded Systems Modeling Corporation, now part of Rockwell Automation. Pegden led the creation of the simulation products SIMAN and Arena, as well as the finite capacity scheduling product Tempo (later renamed RS Scheduler).

    The company's main product, Simio, is object-oriented simulation software.

    Academic program

    Simio provides an academic grant program and is currently taught at over 800 worldwide. They also hold a biannual case competition open to any student participation. The first competition was won by Oklahoma State University

    Wonderware

    Wonderware recently selected Simio as their scheduling software solution.
