Silviu Lung ([ˈsilvju luŋɡ]; born 9 September 1956) is a retired Romanian football goalkeeper. He was born in Sânmiclăuş, Satu Mare and debuted in Divizia A with Universitatea Craiova in 1974. He played fourteen seasons with Universitatea, winning two league titles. In 1988, he joined Steaua Bucureşti and won another league title the first season. He played in the 1988/89 European Cup Final against AC Milan, when Steaua lost 4–0. He also played abroad, in Spanish team CD Logroñés. He returned to Universitatea in 1992/93 and retired in 1994.

Lung was capped 77 times for Romania between 1979 and 1993, and represented his country at Euro 1984 and the 1990 FIFA World Cup, where he was captain in all four matches.

Personal life

Silviu Lung has two son goalkeepers: Tiberiu, who most recently played for Mpumalanga Black Aces in the Premier Soccer League, having also played for Steaua, and Silviu Jr., who plays for Astra Ploieşti. Both of them have played for Romania at senior level. In January 2014, Silviu Lung was involved in a car accident which killed the driver of the other vehicle. Silviu was hospitalzed with moderate injuries.
