Silver Oaks School, Hyderabad, with the principal Ms. Seetha Murthy and the director Mr.Dhanunjaya, was established in April 2002 as an English medium co-educational school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, India. It has been recognized as an IB World School for the past few years and offers IB PYP program. The campus covers four acres. On completion of 10 years the school launched the annual opera on 17 December 2011. The school has started its own Research Center in 2012 to research and explore ways that can optimize learning in a school environment. In doing so became one of the few schools that develops its own pedagogy.

Campus

The school's main campus is stated in Miyapur, Hyderabad and has recently launched another branch in Bangalore in 2013 The Junior School has students from Pre Primary to Grade 6, which is categorized as Pre Primary wing for PP1 & PP2, Primary wing for Grades 1 to 3 and Junior wing for Grades 4 to 6. All the three wings are located in the PYP block of the campus. The Senior school is for students from Grades 7th to 12th and is located in the Leadership block of the campus.

Facilities & Programs

Classroom

Each room is considered a homely environment and is hence called a "Home room". Each class is equipped with a widescreen computer and an audio system connected with internet. There are two blocks: the PYP Block where students from PP1 to Grade 6 are in the IB program, and The Leadership Block where students from Grade 7 to Grade 12 are under the Leadership program, imbibing The 7 habits of Stephen R. Covey in them. The classrooms are named according to the students and their syllabus rather than the usual method.

Silver Oaks Academy For Sports And Intensive Learning 

The students who show outstanding performance in academics and activities/sports are selected for a special program called Silver Oaks Academy For Sports And Intensive Learning . These programs are held after school hours. The Silver Oaks Academy For Intensive Learning helps students learn further about a particular subject or topic, while the Silver Oaks Academy For Sports aims at identifying talent in sports and grooming them into professional players.

Library

The school has library facility in the PYP block and all the students have access to it during the school hours.It is known to have more than 1000 books.The books are issued using a computer software which sends a message to the parents to inform that their child is issuing a book.Each class has a class library in which books are brought by the students.

Computer center

There are five computer labs and all computers are interconnected with LAN and WLAN with internet. Computer education is provided from Class 1 onwards. All Students of Grades I to XII can access the facility.

Laboratories and club

The school laboratories include Physics lab, Chemistry lab, Biology lab, Math lab, Multi purpose hall, Conference hall. Whistle blowers Club is held for discussing about current issues and blowing a whistle against bad practices in the society. Students are encouraged to form clubs of various subjects and other interesting topics and discuss about them and broaden their knowledge.

Student council

The school has a democratic system of elections held at the beginning of each year. Each class has an class representative and each grade's Year Level Secretary are elected by the students. The President is elected by the students. The opposition party does its function. The Year Level Secretaries are under the Chief Secretary. The editorial team is also nominated.Leadership sessions are regularly held for the elected representatives.

Games and sports
  • The campus includes a full-sized playground with football field, cricket pitches for net practices, volleyball courts, basketball courts, lawn tennis courts and throw ball.
  • Table tennis, aerobics and carroms are available as indoor games.
  • The school has a skating rink and swimming pool.
  • NCC, Scout and Guide practices are available.
  • Sports Camp : for Grade V onwards, a sports camp is conducted for 15 days in every academic term after school hours for those students who show skills in tennis, skating, swimming, dance, music, art and craft, Yoga, cricket,volleyball,throw ball and basketball.
  • Students are encouraged to participate in competitions.
  • A Silver Oaks School Fest is conducted before the summer vacation to conduct sports competitions in the school.
  • Transport

    The school owns 54 buses. All buses run on specified routes and broadly cover from Kukatpally - Chandanagar. Each bus is given the name of a state and has a CM and a DCM.

    Clinic

    There is a sick room in the PYP block of the school. A medical staff attends to sick children and provides first aid in case of an emergency. An annual medical checkup of the students is done in the clinic.

    ASSET

    Every year students write a competitive and self-analysing examination.It is written from grade IV to X.Students who get above 80% in ASSET are selected for intensive program.Students are given OUTSTANDING or DISTINGUISHED or participation performance certificate according to how well they performed.Many are selected for the famous Asset Talent Search examination.

    NIAS

    Silver oaks and IISC together embarked to find gifted students with high IQ level in silver oaks school.After finding 35 gifted students, they were taken to Bangalore branch of silver oaks.Many renowned scientists lectured these young students.Students learnt in depth about either SOUND or SOLAR ENERGY.This program was conducted in academic year 13-14

    Achievements

  • In 2012 the school emerged as the one of the best performing school of Hyderabad when 26.41% of its students appearing in the CBSE board examination obtained 10 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in all five subjects. Out of 106 students 28/106 got 10CGPA which means 69...A1 grades 23...A2 grades 14...B1 grades.
  • Transformation from an existing State Board School to an International School in 5 years with an accreditation from International Baccalaureate for the PYP program till Grade VI and an affiliation from CBSE till Grade XII.
  • Mrs. Seetha Murty, Principal of Silver oaks School was selected as a top 5 leader in the Lead India contest held by Times Of India Hyderabad in October 2007.
