Silver Apples of the Moon was Morton Subotnick's first full-length LP, the first piece of classical music commissioned by a record company, which was composed in 1967 specifically for release on Nonesuch/Elektra. Subotnick took the name from Yeats's poem The Song of Wandering Aengus.
