Sienna Morris (born November 17, 1983) is an artist living in Portland, Oregon. In the summer of 2008, Morris created the drawing technique Numberism, drawing images entirely with numbers and equations by hand. Since 2010, she has been exploring her personal scientific education through her artwork, illustrating the subjects in her drawings with fundamental math and science that explains their function or beauty. She does this to improve her education, and to show others that science is both beautiful, and accessible to anyone.

In 2008, Sienna created the drawing technique, Numberism, drawing images entirely with numbers or equations by hand. Her first series, "Perpetual Motion" featured fleeting moments drawn with the numbers of the clock, 1 -12 to remind the viewer to be present. In 2010, Sienna started her ongoing "Math and Science" series, wherein she draws the subjects with mathematical and scientific data corresponding to the subject's function or beauty. This series is a functional aspect of her self education.

Sienna says part of why she continues this series is to show others that math and science can be beautiful, and that it is accessible even to those who have had an unsuccessful experience with the fields in the past.

“There's more than one path to a scientific education. What most of us lacked in our experience with science and math was inspiration, play and imagination, which are the real foundations of scientific excellence. By drawing these subjects with data that explains their function, I'm hoping to illustrate that everything we love is filled with numbers, physics and logic systems, and that it's a thing of beauty. Science isn't for certain kinds of people. It is our achievement as a species and we should all be able to celebrate it together.”

Sienna has been selling her artwork at the Portland Saturday Market since 2009.

Galleries

From May 2009 to July 2011, Sienna, her husband Tabulanis and Jonathan Ems owned a small company, studio/gallery called "FrogFaith Media Group" in the city's Northwest alphabet district, where they would occasionally showcase their work in small gallery shows.

From 2013-2014, they ran the Fleeting States Gallery in the Everett Station Lofts in the Pearl District, featuring local Portland Artists in solo shows, group shows, and exhibits featuring Sienna Morris's new Numberism artwork.
