Shrak (branded as Shrak for Quake) is an unofficial total conversion developed for id Software's Quake by Quantum Axcess in 1997.

Plot

The game is set in the future, where a new threat to humanity has risen: an army of mutants, led by a mysterious leader known as Shrak. The player is space-travelling soldier who is assigned to confront this mutant army and its loyalists, and find and kill Shrak.

Gameplay

While it based on the original Quake, Shrak features completely new graphics, nineteen new levels, nine new weapons, and nine new enemies. The environments in Shrak tend to be more abandoned-looking than those in Quake, with a greater emphasis on post-apocalyptic themes and puzzles. The provided Red Book Audio soundtrack is ambient electronica by Bonetribe. It shipped with Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, and Bugwar game modes, the latter of which allows the player to compete in teams of either scorpions or spiders.
