The school shares the same campus with Shelton High School, surrounded by a wooded landscape. The school moved from its Perry Hill Road site in 2001.

Awards and recognition

For the 1988-89 school year, Shelton Intermediate School was awarded the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, the highest award an American school can receive from the federal government.
