Shea McKeen (born September 11, 1986) is a former American football player.

Early life

Shea was born in the Mays Landing section of Hamilton Township, Atlantic County, New Jersey. He attended The Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey, where he was named to the first-team Cape Atlantic League, first-team All-Prep. In addition he was rated one of the top 10 tight ends in the nation, as well as one of the top 25 defensive ends in the nation. He was named First Team All-League as a junior after recording seven touchdowns, and recorded eight sacks and scored three touchdowns as a senior. Played for Coach Danny O'Day. He played in only four games as a senior in high school due to illness, but still managed to record eight sacks and hauled in three touchdowns as a tight end. He was named a 4-star tight end prospect by Rivals.com. He eventually signed with University of South Carolina, which he chose over Miami (FL), Florida, Michigan State, Purdue, North Carolina and Southern Cal.

South Carolina

He played as a defensive end for the South Carolina where he played two games before injuring his back.

Nassau Community College

After one year at South Carolina, McKeen transferred to Nassau Community College in Garden City, New York. There he collected 42 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and four sacks as a defensive end last season on his way to earning first team All-NFC honors. This time Rivals.com ranked him as a 3-star prospect, but as a defensive end. He ultimately decided on North Carolina State University over offers from West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Arizona State.

North Carolina State

In 2008, McKeen earned the starter's job at defensive end in the second game of the season and started the next nine games before breaking his ankle in the Wake Forest contest. He underwent surgery and missed the rest of the season, but he returned for 2009 spring drills. Solid performer who was in for a high of 54 snaps versus Florida State, he tallied five tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks for the year. Had four quarterback pressures in the win over East Carolina, he also caused a fumble and had a nine-yard sack in that contest.

Jacksonville Sharks

He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Sharks on December 22, 2010.

Johnstown Generals

After being cut by the Sharks, McKeen played in 5 games with the Johnstown Generals He made 8 tackles and had an assisted sack.
