Shaun Anthony Harris (born May 18, 1978) is a professional soccer / football coach/manager. Currently with California Polytechnic State University Cal Poly. Returning from professional soccer/football to return to National Collegiate Athletic Association NCAA college soccer. Harris has continued to remain involved with UEFA and it's technical coaching team. Harris successfully led Capital City F.C. as the most successful expansion team in Canada within the second division - promotion into the Canadian Soccer League and into Rogers Cup Finals. Harris worked professionally with Everton Football Club of the Premier League coaching within International Football Development and as its sub20 and 23's Head Coach having competed within USL (United Soccer Leagues). As well as success within MLS part of a championship winning staff 2005 MLS Cup and 2005 at the Los Angeles Galaxy and previous to that with United States Soccer Federation ('USSF) and it's youth national teams.

Professional

Harris' has worked with UEFA Union of European Football Associations in several different areas of its development, scouting and tactical analytics programming. As part of the TACT program at the 2014 FIFA World Cup was the 20th FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the 2013 Under 21 Championships UEFA in Israel and the 2013 Under 17 Championships UEFA in Slovakia. Including previous senior championship analysis/scouting programming at the 2012 European Championships UEFA in Poland/Ukraine and the 2002 European Championships UEFA in Portugal. Harris' development experience led him as part of the European Club Association academy study group between 2010 and 2013 which organized and provided leadership and feedback as well as cognitive data at over 50 UEFA football clubs. Harris holds a UEFA A License amongst other age/level as well as International Coaching/Management/Leadership awards.

Capital City Football Club

Harris was chosen to lead Capital City F.C. in 2011-2013 as its Head Coach and Technical Director. Harris was responsible for all football operation at Capital City F.C. both on and off the field. On the field Harris led Capital City F.C. into the Canadian Soccer League first division, advancing and hosting the Canadian Soccer League 1st Division single match, semi-final versus the Serbian White Eagles winning in impressive fashion 5-0 and earned a 1st Division spot in the Canadian Soccer League 1st Division "Cup Final" known as the Rogers Cup. Capital City F.C. results ran out with a 0-1 lose to eight time 1st Division champions Toronto Croatia. Off the field the Capital City F.C. impact within Ottawa, Ontario was unmatched, including grassroots initiatives which remain today as well as the 2011 and 12 seasons were capped off with Canadian Soccer League award nominees CSL League MVP nominee Sullivan Silva, CSL Goalkeeper of the Year nominee Clint Irwin and CSL winner of rookie of the year honours Akil DeFreitas. CCFC also announced their annual awards with Sullivan Silva capturing team MVP and the CCFC Supporters Award, Casey Cordray defender of the year, Emir Zrnic taking the young player of the year award and Francis LeTourneau as the clubs most determined player. Harris progression of Capital City F.C. and players led to 2 players being capped by their national teams and 7 players in total advancing to first tram contracts within Major League Soccer, England, Finland, China and Australia. Additionally off the field success led to Capital City F.C. producing the top attendance for the Canadian Soccer League in 2011-12.

Everton Football Club

Harris began working with Everton Football Club within international football as an international affiliate in 2007 and then was appointed head coach in 2008 of the USL (United Soccer Leagues) Everton pro development (sub20 and 23) teams. Also In 2008 Harris was added to the International Football Development staff for Everton Football Club and remained as it's USL (United Soccer Leagues) head coach with duel roles during that period. In his first season with Everton, Harris led the USL (United Soccer Leagues) sub20 team to a runner-up finish as the only expansion team within the pacific south conference. In 2009 Everton returned for its second season finishing runner-up for a second year in a row with an overall top goal differential in the country and only one point off of the pacific south conference title, gaining an invitation to the North American Super Cup. In 2010 Everton won the pacific south conference and returned to the North American Super Cup in Rockford, Illinois. Also in 2010 Everton's sub23 program finishing top of the division, providing the sub23 program direct competition to Major League Soccer teams during the ""2010 FIFA World Cup"" break and other West Coast based professional teams from the USL (United Soccer Leagues) and NPSL (National Premier Soccer League) and ""Mexican League One"". Harris remained with Everton Football Club working with the academy and within International Football Development through 2011.

Los Angeles Galaxy

Harris was added in 2005 to the Los Angeles Galaxy, Steve Sampson staff. During Harris' time at the Los Angeles Galaxy and in 2005 Harris was a part of the staff winning the U.S. Open Cup 2005 and MLS Cup double 2005 MLS Cup. During the 2005 season Harris' on the technical staff focusing on the reserve team, performance analysis, player development, scouting and the MLS super draft, while preparing for the Major League Soccer (super draft) leading into the 2006 season. The tragedy of President and General Manager Doug Hamilton’s sudden death in the preseason of 2006 shifted the regime of the staff after the start of the 2006 season. Harris remained with the Los Angeles Galaxy as Frank Yallop took over as head coach in May 2006.

United States Soccer Federation

Harris as a former USYNT player, during which time Harris was part of the operations and matchday staff at the 1994 FIFA World Cup was the 15th FIFA World Cup, held in nine cities across the United States from 17 June to 17 July 1994. As a player and early in his career Harris went on to complete all USSF coaching badges. From there Harris worked professionally within USSF (national development program) between the u14-u15's USSF (national development program) is the gateway into identification for USSF (national teams programming), including identification camps, national and regional scouting and international trips. Additionally during this same period Harris as well as all USSF staff managed an aspect of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2003, the fourth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup, Harris' role was the overall training site direction at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California and FIFA matchday protocol at both the Home Depot Center and PG&E Park in Portland, Oregon - Harris has completed all such North American Coaching Badges including the USSF National Licenses, Coaching Education program and the NSCAA (Premier) diploma, as well as Goalkeeper and age/level specific development modules.

College/University

Harris currently with California Polytechnic State University Cal Poly. Returning from professional soccer/football to return to National Collegiate Athletic Association NCAA college soccer. Harris previously has worked at NCAA NAIA and NJCAA in which time Harris has led or been part of six straight postseason appearances including the NCAA 2015 National and Big West tournaments. Back to back NAIA and NJCAA tournaments including regional semi-finalist in both years. Within four of six seasons seeing teams reach NCAA NAIA NJCAA and NSCAA top25 national and composite rankings.

Playing career

As a player Harris developed within the academy, USYNT and through the University system, additionally in trials with AFC Bournemouth on two separate occasions after being scouted by Tony Pulis at the Bournemouth Classic - visa player restrictions in the United Kingdom challenged any full-time move, therefore Harris also trialed/played with Sligo Rovers. Returning to the United States Harris played fourteen times, scoring eleven goals with nine assists for the Anaheim Splash. Harris had opportunity to participate with United States U-23 men's national soccer team training camps in 1995 and again in 1999. After university Harris played for the Orange County Waves as a forward with the Orange County Waves Harris played eighteen times scoring ten times and had an additional twelve assists which lead to opportunities with the Tampa Bay Mutiny and led to loan at Virginia Beach. Harris' playing career ended abruptly upon repetitive and re-occurring injury in 2002. Harris completed coaching badges while playing and coached at the academy level before being recommended in 2003 by former coaches USA U-17 Glenn Myernick and United States U-23 men's national soccer team Clive Charles to work with the USSF (national development program), since Harris has been a part of professional setups in Both Europe and North America within Major League Soccer, Barclays Premier League, United Soccer League and Canadian Soccer League.
