Shanta Rao (1930 - 28 December 2007) was a notable dancer from India. She was exponent of Bharatanatyam and also studied Kathakali and Kuchipudi.

She was recipient of Padma Shri given by Government of India in 1971 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award given by Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music, Dance and Drama, in 1970 and Kalidas Samman for Classical Dance of Government of Madhya Pradesh for 1993-94.

Born in 1930 in Mangalore, and lived in Mumbai and Bangalore. She died on 28 December 2007 at her home at Malleswaram, Bangalore.
