Sevvapet Road railway station is one of the railway station of the Chennai Central–Arakkonam section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhoods of Sevvapet, Tirur, and Thozhuvur and is located 35 km west of Chennai Central. It has an elevation of 38 m above sea level.

History

The first lines in the station were electrified on 29 November 1979, with the electrification of the Chennai Central–Tiruvallur section.

Neighbourhoods

It has two villages on either side of the railway track. The village on the northern side of the station is named Tiruvur which established the first co-operative society in India. The village is administered by a Village Administrative Officer.And another side which consist of Thozhur,which has the agricultural field in it.

There is Agriculture Research Station and Teachers Training Institution(Govt.) nearby Tiruvur village.

This village has one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva which was built during the pandavas and pallavas reign.The village has the very famous Shiva Temple which is more than 1,000 years old. The temple was converted as rock temple by Jatavarman Sundara Pandyan I. The temple name is Arulmigu Singandeswarar Udanurai Uthbalambal Thirukovil. The temple is very near to the Teachers Training Institution and can be reached by public transportation from railway station.

A Historical Temple placed in Rajapuram, Thiruvur Village called Sri Malola Lakshmi Narashimar Temple, Thayar Sri Amirtha Valli, A world Famous Narashimar in Panchaloga, nearly 5 feet height in sitting position with Thayar in his hip, This is the first temple in the world built for Lord Narashimha by the Sri Yoga Hanuman Trust.

The village Tiruvur has Rice research center and Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU) which adds employment to village.

The village also has an Amman temple. There is a church as well as a mosque.

There is a man made canal dug for the Telugu Ganga project in this village. This village has some of the most fertile lands ideal for growing cotton but water is not that abundant. There is a raise in water scarcity problem in recent years.

There is a brewery which was up and running in 2004, which employs a huge number of people in the village. There is a brick kiln as well which employs a good amount of locals.

The population of the village increased highly in the last decade due to migration from other nearby villages as a result of the Housing Boarding scheme.

A government school is there, where the famous Tamil song lyrics writer Na. Muthukumar's father Nagaraj worked as Tamil teacher.

It is one of the most famous place for playing Kabbadi and Football.

It is also famous for Addidas. More than 50℅ of the people who lives here use Adidas sandals,slides and also most of the products from Adidas.
