History

Seven Years Past was formed in 2008 and now consist of vocalist and songwriter Lisa Larkin, guitarist Mark Medeiros, guitarist Brett Jones, Drummer Allen Pryor III and bassist Stephan Rosser.

In recent news, Seven Years Past won the 2015 Hard Rock Rising local competition at The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their second time in three appearances just after winning the first SRQRocks competition in Sarasota, Florida. The SRQ Rocks event was a chance to donate to a great cause. Seven Years Past contributed a significant amount of money in their name to benefit Riverview High School's music and arts program.

In 2010 the band recorded at RadioStar Studios in Northern California for their first full-length CD. Produced by multi-platinum producer Sylvia Massy (TOOL, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sevendust, Johnny Cash) and mastered by Tom Baker (30 Seconds to Mars/Velvet Revolver) of Precision Mastering, “24 Days in May” features such crowd favorites as the hard hitting “Knots”, the soaring ballad “Recent Tragedy” (featuring backup vocals by Massy) the pop infused introspection of “You Said”. Reviewer Gigi Gautier of “Tool & Die” stated, “Lisa Larkin sings with passion few possess and many desire. She strikes out fearlessly with a wave of raw emotion…there isn’t an uncomfortable musical moment on the CD.” Since releasing the CD, Seven Years Past has been featured on radio stations such as WTMY 1280 AM, "The Rock Show" on 96.5 WSLR, WSUN 97X, 105.9 the Buzz, WJRR in Orlando and 106.9 WSRQ.

Seven Years Past features a blend of heartfelt, emotional lyrics and raw musical power. "It's definitely edge-of-your-seat style. That's what we're trying to go for." Larkin said. “We are mainstream rock – not too heavy, not too light – just right.” Larkin’s soulful lyrics originate from a number of sources, as she told New York’s “Tool & Die” Magazine. “Inspiration comes from other peoples’ mistakes. Mistakes that affect my friends, thus affecting me. People that I love. It’s sick. I watch them break up, make up, and I write about it all. Music, it’s almost like a photograph for me. It can tell me where I've been.

In June 2012 the band headed to Buffalo, NY to record a follow up CD with Goo Goo Dolls co-founder/bassist Robby Takac producing. Recorded at GCR Audio in Buffalo, the band worked with Takac to polish the sound and utilized the talents of Richie English to compose strings for their ballad "24-7" as well as piano accompaniment to their song "Let You Down". The album also featured a song written by Jones, "Who Do You Want",

The CD, entitled "Switches" was released March 1, 2013 at a CD release show in their hometown of Sarasota, Florida.

Appearances

During the summer of 2010, Seven Years Past was selected to provide direct tour support for Silent Majority Group recording artists Tantric where they gained many more fans across the eastern coast of the United States. This opportunity allowed Seven Years Past to introduce themselves to fans in New York, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

Seven Years Past has appeared in multiple Battle of the Bands competitions, including the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa's Battle of the Bands, where they have been entered for a chance to win a spot to open for Jon Bon Jovi for the Hard Rock Calling celebration concert in London. On March 17, 2011, they were featured on My FOX Tampa Bay and promoted by Hard Rock Tampa for winning this contest. Due to their win in the Hard Rock International Battle of the Bands, Seven Years Past is also booked to share the stage with Saving Abel and Taproot in April and May 2011 respectively.

    Switches

Released in 2013, Switches is An 8-song effort recorded in Buffalo NY and produced by Goo Goo Dolls bassist and songwriter Robby Takac. There are a couple of re-worked songs like That's Ok (formerly "torcher") and Drop Dead Gorgeous that were previously recorded with Trip2go and have been transformed with more energy and lyrical content as well as some added and changed parts that complimented the songs and brought them to a higher plane. Some of the newer works like "Vegas" and "My weakness" are harder edged songs tuned down to Dropped C with melodic vocals over the top yet there are songs like "24 Seven" co-written with guitarist and songwriter Brent Pongetti, and Heartfelt ballad "Let You Down", (a song revived by Rosser after hearing the potential, and voluntarily arranging it into an idea for Larkin to take as a fresh idea into the studio). Once there, the songs were once again re-worked to become songs that are much more mainstream with powerful vocals and story telling lyrics.
