Playing career
Roland was a midfielder at the University of Pennsylvania. He represented the United States in four Maccabiah Games tournaments, winning a silver medal in the 1981 Maccabiah Games. Additionally, he later went on to manage the squad for the 1993, 1997 and 2009 Maccabiah Games.
