Selena Quick

Selena Quick (born 1 July 1987) is a British DJ & presenter who is known for hosting the drive-time show on Radio 1 in the United Arab Emirates, Sunday-Friday 4-7pm and for presenting on Choice FM in London where she was shortlisted for an Arqiva Commercial Radio Award in 2006. Quick also co-presents Abu Dhabi Week TV.

Early life

Quick was born in Wimbledon, London to a family of Indian heritage and attended Greenacre School in Surrey where she was awarded with one of the first Diana Memorial Award's for Inspirational Young People, for the organisation of a charity Fashion Show for The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. She went on to Reiate College, also in Surrey where she studied for her A'Levels.

Radio

Quick began her career making tea and answering phones at the weekend on Choice FM when she was 16 years old. After lots of learning both on and off air, Quick became the co-host of Saturday night party show 'ClubVybez' with Steve Wren and began covering shows solo.

In 2006, Quick began hosting Sunday Breakfast, weekly 6-9am playing old & new Soul music and Early Breakfast, weekdays 2-6am. The same year, she was nominated for the Arqiva / Skillset Radio Presentation Newcomer of the Year at the Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards and the Best Radio Show at the UK Asian Music Awards.

Quick was headhunted in November 2007 by Radio 1 in Dubai to present mid-mornings across the UAE. In December 2009, she began hosting drive-time. Quick has presented live radio shows across the UAE from internationally recognised events such as Yasalam, the official entertainment programme that accompanies Abu Dhabi's Formula 1 Grand Prix. She has also interviewed many artists including Nelly Furtado. Quick featured in the 2010 Ahlan! Hot 100.

Television

Quick made her first television appearance in 2009 as a guest on City 7 TV's car show, In Gear. She went on to host the channels gadget show 'GGT' during 2010. Quick began co-presenting a lifestyle show on Abu Dhabi called Abu Dhabi Week TV in 2011, which broadcasts on all Etihad Airways flights.

Quick DJ's at various exclusive venues in the UAE and internationally.

Events

Since 2004, Quick has been responsible for the organisation and management of the Funkbase room at the Southport Weekender music festival.

PR, Promotions & Marketing

Quick trained at record label 'Urbanstar' whilst she was still studying. She was responsible for the promotion of the anthem 'You Are My Starship' by the Dazz Band. Quick went on to work with artists including the Brand New Heavies, Carmen Reece, Lynden David Hall & Nate James.
