Scottie Nell Hughes is an American journalist and political commentator. She is best known for being a paid CNN commentator during the 2016 presidential election, often speaking in support of presidential candidate Donald Trump, going so far as to say in regards to the conflicting points of views from the two candidates in the 2016 election cycle "facts don't exist". In an interview with CNN's Don Lemon, Hughes got into a heated discussion with commentator Ana Navarro over the 2005 tape of Donald Trump making comments about assaulting women. She was also impersonated by Cecily Strong on the April 2, 2016 episode of Saturday Night Live.

Career

Hughes began her career as an executive producer on the Steve Gill Show in Nashville, Tennessee. With an established radio career, she went on to take positions with the Rusty Humphries Show, The Michael Berry Show, The Mark Skoda Show and many others. She also was in the first group of radio talk show hosts sent by the Department of Defense to travel to the frontlines of Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq and Kuwait as well as the detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Scottie Nell currently serves as a political commentator for CNN and serves as Political Editor at RightAlerts.com. She serves as a columnist for TownHall.com, TownHallFinance.com, and ChristianPost.com. Her interviews as a commentator have been featured on Drudge Report, Breitbart, The Blaze, World Net Daily, and The Daily Caller.
Personal life
Hughes is married to Chris Hughes, a home builder, and has two children.

Hughes's brother Cliff was killed eight years before she was born. He was shot to death at the age of eight, by his nanny's 12-year-old son while the nanny watched him at her home.

Hughes received a broadcast communications/political science degree from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
