The scientific library of the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine is a structural division of the State higher educational institution "the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine" of the IV level of accreditation. It is located in the town Sumy.

Overview
The scientific library of the Ukrainian Academy of Banking is a multifunctional educational, scientific, information and socio-cultural center with the modern equipment and the whole range of innovative technologies. It is a unique library for Ukraine. The new building of the scientific library was historically styled, becoming the dominating structure and architectural decoration of the historic part of Sumy. The Academy’s library is a harmonic combination of the print book and computer, traditional library resources and the possibilities of the virtual information and educational environment. The main principles of the library’s activity are the openness, accessibility, convenience and efficiency.
The services of the information resources of the scientific library are at the disposal of more than 8000 students, post-graduates and researchers of the region. Annually, the library is attended by nearly 120 thousand readers. 250 thousand copies of documents are lent each year.
The scientific library has 3 subscription departments (scientific, educational and literature in foreign languages), 3 reading-halls (scientific, educational and dissertations), multimedia and internet centres, small and big conference halls, students’ creative laboratory, literary lounge, places for individual work. The library’s users have 200 seats and 140 automated working places at their disposal.
All departments have an open access to the documents of all kinds on electronic carriers.
The basis of the library’s automation is a new technological complex, which consists of a structured cable system with the speed of data transfer at 1 Gigabyte a second, Wi-Fi wireless ports and a powerful server.

The Internet Centre has been created in order to facilitate E-learning, provide access to the training programs, electronic databases, comfortable servicing of the library’s users.
The multimedia centre is equipped with the fund of audio, video and electronic editions and is intended for the demonstration of multimedia lectures, virtual presentations, lessons of foreign languages, etc. The library possesses the latest RFID radio frequency technologies for customer servicing.
A powerful information resource that provides access to electronic documents is the Electronic library of the Academy created in 2001. The library contains all publications published by the Academy’s publishing house. It has its own structure, special sections and collections, chronological storage of data.
At the moment the Electronic library is being reorganized into an open electronic archive on DSpace platform. Its transformation into the institutional repository unifies the software, technical provision and content filling in order to make it easy for the customers to use this service.
Therefore, the Electronic library of the Academy as an integral part of the educational process and scientific activity is a recognized virtual channel into the global information environment.
Moreover, the library is a pivot of knowledge and spirituality. Readers’ conferences, meetings with famous cultural figures and thematic events are regularly organized here.
